Propane country, set up right

Downtown Brevard has pockets that reach natural gas, but climb toward Connestee Falls, Sherwood Forest, and the cabins and you're on propane like most of the county. Propane burns hotter per unit than natural gas and demands different orifices and manifold pressures — get that wrong and the unit soots and underperforms. We handle the regulator, piping, and appliance setup, and coordinate the tank with your supplier.

Eighty inches of rain is the enemy

Transylvania's rainfall — 80-plus inches a year, worst from March into June — is brutal on open wood-burning systems: it cracks crowns, spalls brick, and rusts dampers, and a chimney chase or crawl space here stays damp. That constant moisture is a real argument for sealed direct-vent gas, which doesn't rely on an exposed masonry chimney at all. If you love wood, plan on a stainless cap, good waterproofing, and a fall sweep.

Direct-vent is also the safe default for the tight new builds around Pisgah Forest — sealed combustion out a sidewall, no chimney to weather.
