Does Napoleon make electric fireplaces?
Yes — Napoleon makes a full electric lineup: wall-mount, built-in, and insert electric fireplaces, alongside its well-known gas and wood lines. In our Asheville showroom, though, the electric flame we chose to display is Dimplex — we think it's the most convincing electric flame on the market — but we carry Napoleon and can walk you through either.
Napoleon is a full-line hearth maker
Napoleon isn't only a gas brand — the same company builds gas, wood, and a broad electric range (and yes, the grills too). Their electric fireplaces are the plug-in, no-venting kind: slim wall-mounts you hang like a TV, recessed built-ins framed into a wall for a bedroom, basement, home office, or condo, and electric inserts that drop into an existing masonry or prefab opening to retire a cold, drafty firebox.
It's genuinely capable product, and we carry Napoleon as an authorized dealer, so we can bring in a unit from across their electric lineup if that's the direction you want to go.
Why the electric we display is Dimplex
When we chose one electric brand to anchor the showroom floor, we went with Dimplex — the IgniteXL Bold 50 linear in particular — because their flame effect is the most convincing electric flame we've put in front of customers, and the range covers what most WNC homes actually want.
Electric is the easy button: flame at the flip of a switch, no gas line to run, no venting to cut, and roughly 5,000 BTU (about 1,500 watts) of supplemental warmth for a room up to around 400 square feet. There's even a flame-only mode so you can run the look without the heat on a mild summer evening.
The honest caveat every WNC buyer should hear
One piece of straight talk on any electric fireplace, Napoleon's or Dimplex's: it's ambiance plus light supplemental heat — not backup heat, and not a whole-house heater. Electric goes dead the instant the power does, and after Helene a lot of mountain homeowners learned that lesson the hard way.
If flame at the flip of a switch in a bedroom or bonus room is the goal, electric is perfect.
