How long does it take to install a gas fire pit or outdoor fireplace?

In Arden, a gas fire pit generally installs in about a day once the patio enclosure is set and we've run the line off the natural-gas main, while a masonry outdoor fireplace takes several days. In the established Royal Pines and Skyland neighborhoods the gas is already in the ground nearby, so the fuel side rarely holds up the schedule.

Established gas neighborhoods install fast

Arden's established neighborhoods — Royal Pines, Skyland, and the areas off Glenn Bridge and Avery Creek — sit on natural-gas mains, and that's the main reason outdoor fire pits go in quickly here. The gas is already in the ground nearby, so the trench from the meter to a backyard patio is usually short, and as a licensed gas contractor we tap it, run outdoor-rated line, pressure-test, pull the Buncombe County permit, and meet the inspector.

For a fire pit or fire table on a finished patio, that's often about a day of our work plus the permit window, and we're only 15 minutes south of the showroom, which keeps any inspection return quick. On a patio that's already poured in these neighborhoods, the gas tap is usually the shortest part of the whole project.

From open indoor hearths to outdoor features

A lot of Arden's 1980s-and-'90s homes still have drafty open masonry fireplaces indoors, and the same homeowners are the ones adding outdoor features to actually enjoy the cool evenings. An outdoor fireplace is a bigger commitment than a fire pit: two to three days while a mason builds and cures the stone before we connect the gas and set the logs. A wood-burning version with a full chimney runs longer still.

Around Biltmore Park, commercial patios add coordination and time. Whatever the scope, we run the gas line before the hardscape closes over it. If your open indoor fireplace is the reason you're calling, ask about a sealed insert on the same visit — it's a separate job, but pairing the two trips is often the efficient play.
