How long does it take to install a gas fire pit or outdoor fireplace?
In Candler, a gas fire pit typically goes in within a day once the enclosure is built and we've tapped the natural-gas line, and a masonry outdoor fireplace takes several days. In the fast-growing new subdivisions, gas is often already run near the home, which trims the trench and the fuel side of the timeline.
New-subdivision patios install quickly
Candler is one of Asheville's fastest-growing suburbs, and its newer Enka-Candler subdivisions usually have natural gas run to or near the house — which is exactly what shortens an outdoor fire feature's timeline. With the main close, the trench to a backyard fire pit is short, and as a licensed gas contractor we tap it, run outdoor-rated line, pressure-test, pull the Buncombe County permit, and meet the inspector.
On a finished patio, a gas fire pit is roughly a day of our work. We're only about 15 minutes west of the Emma Road showroom, so scheduling and inspections stay tight, and out toward Sand Hill and the Pisgah Highway area the trip is still an easy one for us.
Clean-burning by design in the valley bowl
There's a local reason a gas feature makes sense here beyond speed. Hominy Valley sits in a natural bowl that can trap air, so a clean-burning sealed gas fire pit or fireplace — no wood smoke settling into the valley on a still evening — is an easy call for many homeowners. Gas also lights at the flip of a switch, which fits the new-build lifestyle.
A masonry outdoor fireplace still takes its two to three days for the mason and cure before we connect fuel; a drop-in fire pit doesn't. If you'd rather have real wood flame outdoors, we can build for it, just with the longer chimney timeline. In the newer subdivisions, we also coordinate with builders so the outdoor gas line goes in before the yard is finished, which spares a re-dig later and keeps the fast-growth homes on schedule.
