The one piece outside our control is the manufacturer. Brands like Napoleon and Heat & Glo adjust their list prices periodically, and if a quote sits for months, a new price sheet can land in between.

Availability is the clock that bites
In practice, stock matters more than the calendar date. A popular direct-vent unit can go on backorder for weeks in peak season — the quote holds your price, but it doesn't hold your place in line for the unit itself.
