How much do vented gas logs cost installed?
Vented gas logs are the least expensive way we put a gas flame into an existing wood-burning fireplace — meaningfully cheaper than a gas insert and far below a new gas fireplace, because your firebox and chimney are already doing most of the work. The final number rides mostly on the log set you choose and how far the gas line has to travel.
What you're actually paying for
Four things: the log set, the gas line run to your firebox, a small amount of firebox hardware, and the permit. The gas line is the licensed piece: in North Carolina, connecting fuel is licensed contractor work, and we permit and pressure-test every line. Buy them for the flame, not the furnace
Be clear-eyed about what vented logs are: an ambiance purchase. You get a tall, realistic yellow flame — the closest gas comes to a real wood fire — but with the damper open, most of the heat goes up the chimney. If warmth is the actual goal, put the same conversation toward a sealed gas insert instead; that's a genuine heater.
