How much does it cost to run a gas line to a patio or fire pit?

In Brevard most homes run on propane, so a patio or fire-pit line usually starts at your tank, not a meter — and that shapes the cost along with the distance, what the ground crosses, the BTU load, and the Transylvania County permit. Brevard's heavy rainfall also means trenching through saturated soil, which we plan around.

Propane country, tank first

Brevard and the surrounding cabins are propane country, so the run begins at your tank rather than a gas meter. That adds a step the natural-gas towns skip: we confirm your tank and regulator can carry a fire pit's load — these features pull a lot of gas — and we coordinate any tank change or move with your propane supplier while we run the buried line, set the regulator, and dial in the appliance. The farther the feature sits from the tank, the larger and longer the line, so on a wooded lot that distance is often the biggest single cost driver.

Wet ground, dug right

Transylvania County catches 80-plus inches of rain a year, and that saturated soil matters when we trench. We bury the outdoor-rated line at proper depth and backfill it to drain, so a wet spring doesn't undermine the run or the patio above it. Where the line has to cross a finished patio or path, boring under keeps your hardscape intact. We pull the Transylvania County permit, meet the inspector, and pressure-test the line before it carries fuel — connecting propane is licensed work, and a mason or landscaper legally can't do it, no matter how good the fire feature looks.
