How often should a ventless gas fireplace be cleaned and inspected?
Once a year, late summer, for a ventless gas fireplace in Leicester. Out on the rural large-lot properties here, many homes run on propane, and vent-free sets appeal partly because they need no electricity to run, but that also means the oxygen sensor is the entire safety system, with no backup, so cleaning and testing it every year is essential.
No power required, and what that means
Leicester has plenty of rural properties on propane, and some remote homes with limited electrical capacity, so a vent-free fireplace that runs on a millivolt system with no electricity is genuinely useful here; it puts out heat when the grid can't help. The flip side is that there is nothing electric backing up the safety system.
