Is a fireplace conversion done in one visit or several?

The one-day version

When the gas line is close, the flue is sound, and you're adding a log set or a straightforward insert to an existing opening, we're typically in and out in a day. We run and pressure-test the line, set the appliance, size the liner if it's an insert, light it off with you, and walk you through operation before we leave.

That's the common case in town — homes on the Asheville and Hendersonville mains where the fuel is already at the house.

What turns it into a multi-day job

A few things add days, and none of them are surprises if we've done the assessment right. Relining a chimney for a sealed insert is its own step. A long line run across the house — or out to a propane tank in Fairview or Candler — takes more time and coordination with your supplier. And if the inspection turns up cracked flue tiles or a failing crown, we fix the structure before we install into it.

Where the permit and inspector fit

On every conversion we pull the permit with your county — Buncombe, Henderson, Haywood, or Transylvania — and meet the inspector. Sometimes the inspection lands on a separate day, but that doesn't leave you fireplace-less; the appliance is installed and safe, we're just closing out the paperwork that protects your home sale and insurance.
