What are my options for a gas fireplace if my neighborhood doesn't have natural gas?

Natural gas follows the busier corridors here — much of downtown, Biltmore Village, and the newer South Asheville builds sit on a main. Head up into the older grid of Montford or North Asheville, or climb one of the ridges above West Asheville, and you'll find plenty of homes the gas line never reached. That's not a dead end for a real gas fireplace. Propane does everything natural gas does — a Napoleon Ascent 36 or a Heat & Glo great-room unit throws the same heat and wears the same clean face — it's simply metered for LP through a smaller orifice at a higher pressure.

The split is simple. Your propane supplier sizes and sets the tank on your lot and keeps it filled; we do the licensed side — running and pressure-testing the gas line from the regulator to the firebox, setting the appliance for LP, and pulling the Buncombe County permit so an inspector signs off. A mason or a furniture showroom can sell you a firebox, but connecting it to fuel is licensed gas work in North Carolina, and that's our lane.
