The real risk isn't the badge — it's support
Most name-brand fireplaces are more alike inside than the marketing suggests. Where people get hurt is the stuff that shows up two years later: can you get a blower, a valve, or a remote when it fails? Is there anyone within an hour who works on it? In North Carolina, is there someone licensed to run the gas line, permit it, and pressure-test it?
That's why we won't install a unit somebody bought online sight-unseen. It's not turf-guarding — it's that we can't stand behind a firebox with no local support chain, and the warranty and liability picture on an owner-supplied online unit is a mess for everyone.
Discontinued and orphaned brands
