A saturated gravel drive in April is nearly as impassable to a loaded delivery truck as an iced one in January, so the run-out risk here isn't only a cold-weather problem.

The move is to stop chasing the gauge: automatic delivery, a tank sized for the property, and a monitor so your supplier plans around the dry stretches this climate rarely hands out.

All that rain cracks crowns, spalls brick, and rusts dampers faster than in drier corners of WNC, so if you're on a masonry fireplace we look at the flue before we convert it to sealed gas. Connecting a propane system — regulator, piping, appliance — is licensed gas work, and we pull the Transylvania County permit and pressure-test the line.
