What is the Napoleon Vector linear fireplace?
The Vector is Napoleon's contemporary linear gas fireplace — a wide, low ribbon of fire instead of a traditional log look. Where the Ascent gives you a classic square fireplace with logs, the Vector is built for contemporary design — a long, horizontal opening with a ribbon flame dancing over a glass or stone media bed instead of a log set. The Vector 50 we stock runs 50 inches wide and 40,000 BTU on natural gas, enough to genuinely heat a great room, not just decorate it. Napoleon's MIRRO-FLAME porcelain reflective panels line the firebox and bounce the flame back on itself, so the fire looks deeper and fuller than the box actually is. The TV-above question
Linear fireplaces almost always come with the same question: can I mount the TV above it? The honest answer depends on the model's design and heat management — some linear units run hot up the wall, others route heat forward or use cool-wall construction. It's a real consideration we work through during design, and if a TV-above setup is the goal, we'll tell you which units handle it well (Napoleon's Vector, or Heat & Glo's cool-wall Cosmo) rather than letting you cook your electronics. Bigger and hotter isn't automatically better — we size to the room and the wall.
What the install involves
The Vector is a sealed direct-vent unit, so no chimney — but a linear fireplace of this width needs a well-planned vent run and a gas line sized for 40,000 BTU, both of which are licensed work in NC. We handle the appliance, the venting, the gas line, the permit, and the inspection as one job.
