What size gas line does a gas fireplace need?
In Maggie Valley you're on propane — there's no gas main up here — and at 3,000-plus feet in cabin country, a line sized to deliver full fuel on the coldest night matters. A starved LP line shows up as a lazy flame that won't satisfy a guest who just walked into a cold rental. Most units connect near 1/2-inch; a hungry heater on a long run from the tank wants 3/4-inch.

That's a demanding job for a propane line. A 30,000-BTU cabin heater like a Kozy Heat Springfield needs its full share of fuel, and if the tank sits well off from the house — normal up here — the buried run can be long enough to bleed pressure and leave the flame lazy. We size for full output on the worst night, not the mildest.
Confirm the tank, then size the run
On propane, the line starts at the tank's regulator at low pressure and uses LP-specific orifices, so we size differently than on a gas main — against the appliance's BTU demand, the full developed length from the tank, and anything else drawing off it. Because breakdowns at this elevation wait longer for parts, we'd rather size and inspect before peak rental months than field a no-heat call in January. A pre-season check catches a marginal line before your guests do.
