Many Backgrounds. One Standard.

When replacing a fireplace or adding an insert, do I have to stay with the same brand?

No — you can switch brands freely. What governs a replacement or insert isn't the old logo; it's the opening dimensions, the fuel you've got, the venting, and the clearances. We regularly pull one brand and drop in a better-fitting Napoleon, Regency, or Kozy Heat. With inserts especially, the goal is matching the firebox and getting the liner sized right.

Fit and Fuel Beat Brand Loyalty

You're not married to the old logo. When we replace a fireplace or drop in an insert, the choice is driven by the physical realities — the opening dimensions, your fuel (natural gas or propane), the venting you've got or can add, and the required clearances — not by whatever brand happened to be there before.

A Heatilator prefab can be replaced by a Napoleon; a tired masonry firebox can take a Regency or Kozy Heat insert. We match the appliance to the house, and the badge on the front is one of the last things that matters.

Inserts Live and Die by Measurement

Inserts are where staying open-minded on brand pays off most. An insert has to fit inside your existing opening with the right clearances, and it needs a correctly sized chimney liner to vent safely and run efficiently — inserts commonly hit 70% efficiency or better, versus an open masonry fireplace that can actually run a net heat loss.

Different brands build their fireboxes to different dimensions, so the one that slides cleanly into your Asheville home's opening might not be the brand you started with. We measure first, then recommend the units that genuinely fit — not the ones we'd most like to sell.

Why We Might Move You Off Your Old Brand

Sometimes switching brands is the upgrade. If your original unit was builder-grade and you want a more realistic flame, a stronger heater, or power-optional ignition that keeps working in an outage, another line may simply do it better — that's the honest-advisor call, and we make it every week.

We carry eleven brands precisely so we can match the room instead of forcing a fit. Bring us the model and serial off your existing unit, or photos of the opening, and we'll lay out your best options. Call (828) 545-0525 for a free assessment.
