Many Backgrounds. One Standard.

Mendota fireplaces are American-made — hand-built in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, by Johnson Gas Appliance Company, a maker that's been building gas appliances for well over a century. Each unit is assembled by hand rather than mass-produced, which is a big part of why the fire looks the way it does and why the brand sits at the premium end. We carry Mendota in our Asheville showroom. Call (828) 545-0525.

Hand-built, not stamped out

Mendota is made in the United States — hand-built in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, by Johnson Gas Appliance Company, an American manufacturer that's been making gas appliances since the early 1900s. That's a long time to get good at one thing, and it shows in the product.

What sets Mendota apart is that the units are genuinely hand-built. The realism of the fire — the log casting, the ember bed — comes from that hands-on assembly, and it's the main reason Mendota costs more than a mass-produced firebox.

Why 'made in the USA' matters for parts and service

American-made isn't just a feel-good line. When a fireplace is built by an established domestic manufacturer, parts stay available and service stays straightforward for the long haul — which matters a lot more on a unit you expect to keep for twenty or thirty years than it does at the moment of purchase. We service what we sell, and we're not chasing a defunct overseas supplier for a valve down the road.

See it before you commit

Mendota is a dealer-only brand — it isn't sold online — so the way to shop it is to come stand in front of one. Our Asheville showroom at 629 Emma Rd displays fireplaces lit, and we'll walk you through whether a Mendota or one of our other lines is the honest right call for your room and budget.

Call (828) 545-0525 or visit the showroom to see one for yourself.
