Who owns Vermont Castings now?
Vermont Castings is owned by Hearth & Home Technologies, the largest hearth manufacturer in North America and a division of HNI Corporation. HNI acquired the Vermont Castings Group in 2014, folding it in alongside Heat & Glo, Heatilator, Quadra-Fire, and Majestic. So the classic Vermont brand now sits inside the same family as several lines we carry and service.
The corporate family tree
Hearth & Home Technologies (HHT) is the biggest name most homeowners have never heard of — it's the parent behind a long roster of hearth brands, including Heat & Glo, Heatilator, Majestic, Quadra-Fire, SimpliFire, Monessen, Harman, and Vermont Castings. HHT itself is owned by HNI Corporation, a publicly traded company. The 2014 acquisition brought Vermont Castings under that umbrella, and its manufacturing later consolidated within the group.
Why this matters to you
Consolidation under a big parent cuts both ways, and it's worth understanding before you buy. On the plus side, parts availability and engineering resources are strong — an HHT brand isn't going to vanish and strand you without components. On the other side, some enthusiasts feel the older, independently built Vermont stoves had a heft the newer ones don't.
