Hominy Valley's natural bowl keeps air calm and layered, which is pleasant until you're burning wood — then the smoke and fine particulate settle and linger instead of dispersing. That's a large part of why clean-burning, sealed appliances are so well suited to Candler. Replacing an open wood fire with gas takes the particulate source out entirely, so there's nothing for the valley to hold against you.
New subdivisions, underused fireboxes
Much of Candler's growth is fast new construction with basic builder-grade decorative fireplaces — boxes people light a few times, then leave cold. Converting one to a sealed gas insert turns it into real, clean heat you'll actually use, with combustion sealed and exhaust vented outside. A vented gas log set is the lower-cost ambiance route. Connecting the fuel is licensed work in North Carolina, the part a showroom legally can't finish, so we permit it with Buncombe County, pressure-test, and meet the inspector.
