Are big-box store propane fire tables any good compared to showroom or dealer-quality fire pits?
Maggie Valley is about the worst case for a big-box fire table — propane-only at 3,000-plus feet, one of the coldest spots we serve, and packed with vacation rentals where a table sits idle for weeks, then gets leaned on hard by guests. That thin shell won't survive the combination of a real mountain winter and heavy, careless use.

A rental fire feature has to light instantly for guests and take abuse no owner would inflict on their own gear. A bargain table's thin pan, basic ignition, and small burner give out fast under that — and at 3,000 feet the freeze-thaw is brutal on painted steel. Propane, done without the tank swaps
There's no gas main up here, but that doesn't mean a cylinder buried in a table's base that a guest lets run dry. We bury a permanent, outdoor-rated LP line from the property's propane tank to a real pit — flame at the flip of a switch, no one swapping bottles in the cold.
