Can a fireplace be installed in the middle of winter, or do I have to wait until spring?

Yes, we install fireplaces year-round, right through WNC winters — you don't have to wait until spring. Cold weather doesn't stop a gas or wood install; in fact winter is when no-heat calls get prioritized. The only real winter variables are frozen ground for a buried outdoor gas line and snow days on the mountain roads, and we plan around both.

Winter installs are routine for us

Direct-vent gas fireplaces, inserts, gas log sets, wood-burning units — we put them in through the coldest months every year. Most of the work is indoors and isn't weather-dependent, and many gas installs still finish in a single day. If you're sitting cold in January, there's no reason to wait for April.

This is also when demand for heat is highest, so it's a normal part of our season, not an exception we squeeze in.

What winter actually affects

A few things do shift in deep cold. A buried outdoor gas line means digging, and frozen ground makes that slower — sometimes we sequence the work around it. Snow and ice on a steep gravel driveway or up a mountain road can move a scheduled date by a day. And county inspectors run lighter around the holidays. None of these stop the job; they just ask for a little flexibility.

We know these roads and these conditions — planning around a WNC winter is our normal, not a surprise.

When waiting a bit makes sense

If you're without heat, don't wait — call. We run a 24/7 emergency line and prioritize no-heat calls in winter. If your project is a large outdoor masonry build that needs a mason working stone in the cold, spring may simply go smoother, and we'll tell you so honestly.

Call (828) 545-0525 and we'll give you a straight read on whether your specific job is a 'do it now' or a 'worth waiting a few weeks.'
