Can a gas fireplace run on propane if I don't have natural gas service?
Yes, though Fletcher is one of the towns where you may not need to. The I-26 and airport corridor is well served by natural-gas mains, so most homes and businesses here tap gas directly. But out toward Cane Creek and the properties past the main, propane still does the job — the same fireplace, configured for LP.
A strong gas corridor — mostly
Fletcher sits on one of the better natural-gas corridors in the region; the growth along Airport Road, Fanning Bridge, and the I-26 spine came with infrastructure, and its 1990s subdivisions and newer commercial buildings usually have gas at the meter. So for many Fletcher addresses, propane is a moot point — you're already on a main. Where it isn't moot is the older, more rural edge toward Cane Creek and Howard Gap, where the main thins out. Those homes run propane, and there's no downside to it: LP orifices, propane pressure, a tuned flame, and the fireplace burns exactly as its natural-gas twin would. If you're not sure which side of the line your address falls on, we'll check before we ever talk about a unit.
Commercial and residential, same rules
Fletcher's airport-area commercial demand for gas fireplaces and outdoor features runs ahead of the surrounding residential communities, and whether the project is a lobby fireplace or a subdivision home, the fuel logic is identical — if there's no main, propane fills in cleanly. We handle the LP conversion, run and pressure-test the line, set the regulator, pull the Henderson County permit, and meet the inspector, residential or commercial. A Napoleon Ascent 36 is our best-selling everyday unit and runs happily on either fuel with the right conversion. Fletcher is 20 minutes south of the Asheville showroom. Call (828) 545-0525.
