Yes — linear gas fireplaces are built to be set at whatever height suits the room, and a floating, mid-wall install is one of their signature looks. The sealed unit gets framed into a stud wall at eye level or wherever you want it, with the venting and gas line run inside the wall. Height is a design choice, not a limitation.
Built for height flexibility
A linear gas fireplace is a sealed direct-vent box — no hearth required, no chimney — so where it lands on the wall is up to you and your designer. The Napoleon Vector 50, Heat & Glo Cosmo 42, and Majestic Meridian 42 all get framed into a standard stud wall, and mounting them partway up is common.
Many homeowners float the unit at roughly eye level, or set the height specifically to leave room for a TV above and finishes below.
What the height changes
Wherever the box sits, three things still have to line up. The vent has to reach outside — a higher unit sometimes makes a sidewall termination cleaner, sometimes pushes the run up through the wall to the roof.
The manufacturer's clearances to combustibles have to be honored around the opening. And if a TV or heat-sensitive finish is going above, a heat-management approach keeps that surface cool. None of it is a barrier — it's just planning we do up front.
