Can I install a gas fireplace in a mobile or manufactured home?

Yes — a Black Mountain manufactured home can take a gas fireplace, so long as the unit is listed for manufactured (HUD) housing. Swannanoa Valley inversions leave mornings 10 to 15 degrees colder than Asheville, so we size a listed model that actually heats, set it for your fuel, and permit through Buncombe County, 15 minutes east of our shop.

Cold pools hard in this valley

The Swannanoa Valley traps cold air, and homes up toward Montreat and Ridgecrest sit shaded and cool well into spring, so a manufactured home here leans on its heat source hard. We pick a mobile-home-approved direct-vent unit with enough output for those inversion mornings rather than a purely decorative box, and we account for how quickly a manufactured home sheds heat when the frost dates run later than they do down in Asheville.

Main in town, tank up the coves

Black Mountain has natural-gas service through much of town, but manufactured homes tucked up the coves usually run on propane instead. The manufactured-home listing on the appliance is what matters first — it's about whether the model is on the list, not the fuel. From there we set it for NG or LP with the correct orifices and pressure and coordinate any tank with your supplier.

Fifteen minutes east, fully licensed

Being only about 15 minutes east of our Emma Road shop makes scheduling the assessment and install easy, and keeps service close if you ever need it. Connecting gas is licensed work in North Carolina — a handyman legally can't — so we pull the Buncombe County permit, pressure-test the line, and meet the inspector. Call (828) 545-0525 for a free in-home assessment.
