Can I put a gas insert into an outdoor wood-burning fireplace?

New builds: plan the gas early
Weaverville's Reems Creek growth means a lot of patios are still being designed, and that's the ideal time to bring us in. Roughing a buried, outdoor-rated gas stub to the fireplace during construction is cleaner and simpler than chasing a line across a finished yard later. On natural gas, we tap the meter, size the run for the burner, and set you up for a sealed outdoor unit or an outdoor-rated log set — whichever look you're building toward.
Older downtown fireboxes: check first
The original masonry fireboxes on Weaverville's older downtown homes tend to be inefficient and, outdoors, weathered.
