Draft, not altitude, in an old open hearth
Historic Flat Rock's oversized open fireplaces were designed for a different era of heating, and today many are net heat losers — a big open firebox and an aging clay flue liner pull warm room air and cold drafts through the house. That's a draft-and-design problem, and altitude has almost nothing to do with it. Dropping in a correctly sized sealed insert changes the equation: it stops the draft, produces real heat, and gets its orifice matched to the elevation and fuel at install.
