How long does a fireplace installation take?
Most gas fireplace installations are done in a single day, especially a direct-vent unit going onto an exterior wall with the gas line nearby. Wood-burning fireplaces and jobs needing a full chimney typically run two to three days. Add time if we're routing a long gas line, opening finished walls, or waiting on inspection and the mason's facing work.
The single-day installs
A lot of what we do wraps up in one day. A direct-vent gas fireplace going onto an exterior wall, with the gas line close by, is our bread-and-butter one-day job — we set the unit, run the vent out the sidewall, connect and pressure-test the gas, and you've got fire that evening. Dropping a gas insert or a Real Fyre log set into an existing firebox is usually a one-day job too, and an electric unit is faster still. These are the installs where you're warm by dinner.
The two- and three-day builds
Wood-burning is where the calendar stretches. A new wood fireplace needs a full Class A insulated chimney, proper framing, and a hearth built to code — that's typically a two- to three-day job, and there's simply more to construct. Retrofits into a finished home add time too, because opening drywall, routing a vent past existing framing, and running a long gas line all take longer than working in open construction. If a mason is applying stone or tile facing, that's separate work on its own schedule that we coordinate around.
What sets your timeline
Your real number comes down to a handful of things: the fuel and vent type, whether the unit sits on an exterior or interior wall, how far the gas line has to travel, and whether it's new construction or a retrofit.
