How long does a fireplace installation take?

In Brevard, a straightforward gas install still finishes in a day, but two local factors shape your Transylvania County timeline: the permit and inspection, and the moisture. A direct-vent unit near the line is quick; a full wood chimney runs two to three days. Brevard's 80-plus inches of annual rain often means crown or damper repair before we can build.

The Transylvania permit and the inspector

We pull the permit with Transylvania County and meet the inspector on every install, and that's a real part of the calendar. Even a same-day direct-vent job waits to be cleared for first fire, and county inspector scheduling can add days between the work being finished and your first flame. It's worth it: a permitted, pressure-tested gas line protects your home sale and your homeowner's insurance, and unpermitted hearth work can void coverage. As a licensed gas contractor, connecting and testing that fuel is our lane — a downtown showroom or a mason legally can't do it.

Wet-country prep adds a step

Brevard's crawl spaces and chimney chases take a beating from more than 80 inches of rain a year — cracked crowns, spalled brick, rusted dampers, especially through the March-to-June wet season. Before an insert or a new liner goes into an older masonry chimney, that damage often needs addressing first, and that prep sits outside the install-day clock. We'll flag exactly what's needed at the free assessment so the timeline is honest.

Fuel out here

Much of Brevard runs on propane, especially the cabins tucked up the mountain roads. We set the regulator, piping, and appliance for LP and coordinate the tank with your supplier; a wrong-fuel configuration soots the glass and logs fast, so we convert and tune every propane unit to burn clean. A Kozy Heat Springfield 36 is a strong call for propane-country cabins. Call (828) 545-0525.
