How long does it take to install a gas fire pit or outdoor fireplace?

In Swannanoa, a gas fire pit typically installs in a single day once the enclosure is built and we've tapped the natural-gas line, while a masonry outdoor fireplace takes several days. With so many homes being rebuilt and renovated after the storm, we're often folding an outdoor fire feature into a larger project, which is really a sequencing question more than a speed one.

Building it into the rebuild

Swannanoa is in active recovery — Grovemont's 1940s-to-'60s homes and others across the valley are being rebuilt and renovated, and a lot of our outdoor work here rides along with those projects. When a fire pit or outdoor fireplace is part of a bigger rebuild, the timeline is less about how fast we work and more about when we show up in the sequence: we run the gas line before the new patio or hardscape closes over the trench, then return to connect and light once the surface and any masonry have cured.

Get us in the plan early and the outdoor feature costs almost no extra time, since we're already sequencing around the Bee Tree and Owen-area crews on site.

Natural gas, valley damp, and the permit

The valley runs on natural gas, so for a standalone job the fuel side is quick — we tap the line, pull the Buncombe County permit, pressure-test, and meet the inspector. Swannanoa's river-valley fog, cold-air pooling, and damp air are rough on masonry and metal, so any outdoor line we bury is outdoor-rated and protected against the moisture that rusts hardware early here.

Since the storm's long power outages, plenty of neighbors are pairing an indoor gas or wood hearth with the outdoor feature, so heat doesn't depend on the grid — a conversation we're happy to have on the same visit. Folding the outdoor feature into a rebuild that's already underway usually costs little extra time, as long as we're in the plan before the new patio is poured. We're only about 15 minutes east of the showroom. Call (828) 545-0525 for a free on-site assessment.
