How much does a chimney cap cost installed?
Weaverville is a two-answer town. On Reems Creek's fast-growing new construction you're usually looking at a factory-built chimney that takes a metal chase cover, while older downtown homes with original masonry fireboxes take a true stainless cap — cheap hardware either way, but different jobs. Which one you own decides the price and the part.
New builds take a chase cover, not a cap
Much of Weaverville's recent growth around Reems Creek and Ox Creek uses prefab, factory-built fireplaces vented through a framed chase with a metal pan on top. People call that pan a cap, but it's a chase cover, and replacing a rusted one is a measured, made-to-fit job — bigger than dropping a stainless lid onto a clay flue. Newer Reems Creek subdivisions almost all fall in this prefab camp, so out there the question is usually chase cover, not cap. Getting the terminology right on the ladder is what keeps the quote honest and the fabrication sized correctly.
Old downtown masonry takes the classic
The original brick chimneys on Weaverville's older downtown homes are the other case entirely: single or multiple clay flues under a masonry crown, where a stainless single-flue or multi-flue cap is the right, inexpensive fix. These inefficient old fireboxes already lose plenty of heat, and an open, uncapped flue only adds rain on the damper and freeze-thaw in the brick to the tab. The streets right around downtown are where the true masonry stacks still stand. This north-facing valley warms slowly in spring, so the fires run late — worth capping before the cold lingers.
Fifteen minutes north
Weaverville is a short run up from our Asheville showroom, so whichever top you need rides along with a sweep, inspection, or tune-up rather than a solo trip. We quote it upfront once we've confirmed masonry versus prefab, and the trucks carry common cap sizes for the masonry case. One look on the ladder tells us which of the two you're dealing with.
