How much does a wood stove cost installed?
Out in Mills River, most homes sit on propane rather than a natural-gas main, and many of the rural large-lot and newer farmland properties have no existing wood chimney. That means a freestanding stove typically requires building a full Class A chimney from scratch, which is the biggest single line in the installed price.
Rural lots, fresh venting
Mills River's mix of large-lot rural homes and newer developments amid farmland and forest often lacks a masonry flue a stove could reuse. That means Class A insulated pipe run up through the ceiling and roof, with a support box, flashing, storm collar, and enough height above the roofline to draft cleanly. Where an older farmhouse does have a sound chimney, we line it and the venting cost drops. The open Mills River valley and Horse Shoe area homes usually give plenty of roof options for a clean vertical run.
Wood independence in propane country
Propane country already thinks about self-sufficient heat, and wood takes it further: total grid independence, no fuel delivery required. An EPA-certified Regency Cascades F1500 heats up to 1,500 square feet at 78 percent efficiency. We pull the permit with Henderson County and meet the inspector on hearth, clearances, and chimney height. Right-sizing matters, since an oversized stove just smolders.
