Cold air pools in the Swannanoa Valley and holds — frost dates run later into spring here than in town. An electric built-in delivers about 5,000 BTU, enough to take the edge off a living room up to roughly 400 square feet, but it won't answer a hard valley-inversion morning by itself. We frame a recess into the wall, a licensed electrician runs a dedicated 1,500-watt line with the receptacle hidden in the cavity, and we finish the surround so it reads built-in. Put it on its own circuit — share a breaker with the TV and the lamps and it trips the first cold night everything's on at once. Electrical isn't our trade; we handle the recess, the unit, and the finish, and coordinate the electrician so it's one job.
One honest limit
An electric fireplace produces nothing in a power outage, and Buncombe's mountain lines do go down.
