How much does it cost to install a built-in electric fireplace, including the wiring?

In Canton, after the Pigeon River flooding, we say this plainly: a built-in electric fireplace gives you no heat in an outage, so if backup warmth is what the flood taught you to want, put the money toward gas or wood instead. As a low-cost ambiance feature in a room with reliable power, electric is the cheapest hearth there is. Call (828) 545-0525.

The outage lesson comes first

Canton's valley homes took on water and lost power, and plenty of hearths and gas appliances had to be replaced outright. When people rebuild here, the first question is usually about heat that survives the grid going down — and an electric fireplace fails that test completely. It's ambiance and roughly 5,000 BTU of supplemental warmth, nothing more, and it's dark the moment the lines drop. If your goal is dependable backup heat, a direct-vent gas unit or a wood stove is the honest answer, and we install both.

Where electric still makes sense

If a room already has reliable heat and you just want a clean flame on the wall, electric is the least-expensive built-in going. The Dimplex is a few hundred dollars; the cost is framing the recess, running a dedicated 1,500-watt circuit, and finishing the wall. One caution specific to flood-affected homes: any wiring that sat in water gets inspected before we tie a new circuit to it. Electrical isn't our trade — we coordinate a licensed electrician and handle the recess, unit, and finish ourselves.

Timing and reach

Valley-floor fog and damp rust dampers and caps early in Haywood County, which is one more reason a no-flue electric appeals for pure ambiance. We're 20 minutes east of Canton in Asheville, and we'll quote the whole build-out free — the recess, the coordinated electrical, and the finish. Call (828) 545-0525.
