On established 1980s-90s lots, a gas fire feature is a straightforward outdoor upgrade. Rare off-main homes run propane.

Arden's core is 1980s and 90s housing in Skyland, Royal Pines, and along Glenn Bridge — settled neighborhoods on natural-gas mains. For homes like these, a gas fire pit is one of the cleaner outdoor upgrades you can make: we branch a line off the existing meter, bury an outdoor-rated run to the patio, and the fire's ready at a switch. Indoors, these same houses often have tired open masonry fireplaces; outdoors, gas skips all that and just works. Natural gas, and the burner to suit it
Because Arden sits on the mains, natural gas is the practical fuel — no cylinder to watch, no supplier to schedule. The burner is built specifically for NG, which runs at lower pressure than propane; a pit fed the wrong fuel burns dirty and soots whatever's above it. That difference is the whole reason fuel and burner get matched up front. The occasional home off the main goes propane from a tank, with the jets set for LP. Connecting either is licensed gas-piping work in North Carolina — a hardscaper builds the surround, we make it burn.
