Once that's settled, stub a generously sized line to the future patio and cap it while the ground's still open.
Settle the fuel before anything else
On a natural-gas lot in one of Candler's newer subdivisions, you size the meter for the combined outdoor load. On propane — still common across the more rural Hominy Valley and Pisgah Highway stretches — you size and place a tank for the house plus a future fire feature. Confirming which is your first move, because it shapes everything downstream.
Candler is growing fast, and a lot of new builds here come with basic decorative fireboxes owners later wish threw real heat. The outdoor lesson is the same: plan generously now so you don't relitigate it later.
Clean-burning suits the valley bowl
Hominy Valley's natural bowl can hold air, which is one reason sealed, clean-burning appliances are a smart default here — indoors and out. Run one adequately sized buried line toward the fire feature with branches for a grill and heater, and sleeve any slab crossing, all while the excavator's still on site.
The gas or propane connection is licensed work in North Carolina — your builder can't legally make it. We run and pressure-test the line and pull the Buncombe County permit.
