What the annual service covers

We sweep and inspect the full liner run, check the cap and top-plate seal, look over the firebrick for cracks, test the door and glass gaskets, vacuum cold ash, clean the glass, and dust the blower. Most inserts have to be drawn partway out of the masonry to reach the entire liner, so it's a proper professional visit, done to CSIA and NFPA standards.

A wood insert is also heat you own outright, independent of the grid — which is why it kept homes warm through the multi-day outages this area has seen.
