Two Kozy Heat models anchor our showroom and cover most homes: the Springfield 36, a 30,000 BTU direct-vent gas fireplace that runs great on propane, and the Chaska 25L, a 25,000 BTU gas insert with a blower standard for retrofitting an old open fireplace. Both come from Kozy Heat's well-known Springfield and Chaska families.
The Springfield 36 — cabin-country fireplace
The Springfield 36 is our go-to Kozy Heat fireplace, and it's the right call for propane-country cabins. It's a 30,000 BTU direct-vent unit — sealed combustion, vented out a sidewall or roof, no chimney needed — that runs beautifully on LP, which matters out in Fairview, Candler, Brevard, and the cabins off the gas main.
Direct-vent also makes it safe in tighter, well-sealed modern homes and bedrooms. When someone's adding a fireplace to a room that never had one, this is a unit we reach for often.
The Chaska 25L — turning an old fireplace into a heater
The Chaska 25L is a 25,000 BTU gas insert, and it comes with a blower as standard equipment — which is the whole game with an insert. An open masonry fireplace can actually run a net heat loss, pulling warm air up the chimney.
Drop in a sealed Chaska with its blower and you flip that into an efficient heater that pushes warmth back into the room — inserts commonly run 70 percent efficient or better. It's a favorite retrofit for older Asheville and Hendersonville homes with a drafty original firebox.
