Kozy Heat backs its gas fireplaces and inserts with a limited lifetime warranty on the major components, and every unit we install also carries our own workmanship guarantee on top of it. The exact coverage varies by part and by model, so the specifics live in the paperwork that comes with your unit — we'll walk you through it.
Two layers of coverage
Every Kozy Heat we install comes with two things: the manufacturer's limited lifetime warranty and Steady Flame's workmanship guarantee. The factory warranty covers the unit's major components against defects; our guarantee covers the install itself — the venting, the gas connection, the setup.
That combination is the whole point of buying from the company that also installs it, instead of stitching together a box and a separate installer. If something's ever off, there's one company accountable for both the appliance and the work.
Why a proper install protects the warranty
Here's the catch homeowners miss: a manufacturer's warranty assumes the unit was installed correctly, by a licensed professional, and permitted. A DIY or unlicensed gas hookup can void that coverage outright — and in North Carolina, running the gas line is licensed work regardless.
When we install a Kozy Heat, we permit it, pressure-test the line, and meet the county inspector, which keeps both the warranty and your homeowner's insurance intact. Unpermitted gas work can quietly undo both.
Keeping the coverage alive
Warranties reward maintenance. An annual service — ideally late summer or early fall, before you're depending on the heat — keeps the unit running clean and keeps you in good standing. The classic WNC failure is spiders and dust clogging the pilot assembly and burner orifices over the off-season, and a yearly tune-up catches that before it becomes a no-heat call in January.
