What is the Heat & Glo 6000 series and is it still made?
The 6000 is Heat & Glo's flagship great-room gas fireplace — a 42-inch, roughly 40,000 BTU direct-vent unit with a clean-face front, built to anchor a big room. It's very much still in production; the current showroom version is the 6000CLX-IPI. If you have an older 6000, we still service it and can source parts.
What the 6000 is built to do
This is Heat & Glo's marquee fireplace — the one they design to be the focal point of a great room rather than a supplemental heater tucked in a corner. At 42 inches wide and around 40,000 BTU on natural gas, the 6000CLX throws real heat and shows a large, full flame picture behind a clean-face front, with no visible louvers to break up the look.
IntelliFire Plus ignition runs it, which means electronic lighting with a battery-backup option — so it can still light when the grid is down. That's the kind of detail that mattered a great deal in WNC after Helene.
"Still made?" — yes, in updated form
Heat & Glo has refined the 6000 over the years, and the CLX clean-face version with IPI ignition is the current iteration you'll see in our showroom. Manufacturers evolve model designations, so if you're matching an existing unit or reading an old manual, the model number on your rating plate is what actually matters.
Bring us that number, or a photo of it, and we'll confirm exactly what you have and what's current. We won't guess.
Owning an older 6000
Plenty of 6000-series fireplaces are still burning across Asheville and Hendersonville homes. Hearth & Home supports parts well, so components like the blower, valve, and glass are generally available, and the design has been stable enough that service is straightforward.
If yours is acting up — weak flame, a pilot that won't hold, a blower gone quiet — that's usually a small, affordable part or a cleaning, not a replacement. And if you are replacing it, the current 6000CLX drops right into the same role. Call (828) 545-0525 for a look.
