Candler, North Carolina

When should I order a fireplace to have it installed by winter?

In Candler, order by late summer, and settle the fuel first: gas mains have reached the Enka-Candler corridor, but many homes out toward Hominy Valley and Pisgah Highway still run propane. Most subdivisions here have basic builder-grade fireboxes owners want to upgrade to real heat — so the assessment, the fuel plan, and the Buncombe County permit all need a head start.

Two fuels, depending where you are

Candler is growing fast, and its fuel picture reflects that. Natural gas serves the built-up Enka-Candler corridor, while properties out toward Hominy Valley and the Pisgah Highway area still commonly run propane. That's the first thing the assessment settles, because it changes your timeline — a propane home adds coordinating the tank and regulator with your supplier and a pre-winter top-off, while a gas-main home skips that entirely. Either way we're a licensed gas contractor, so we permit and pressure-test the line and, on propane, set the appliance up with the right orifices and pressure so it doesn't soot.

Builder-grade fireboxes, real-heat upgrades

A lot of Candler's newer subdivisions came with basic decorative builder-grade fireboxes — pretty, but not really heaters — and owners want the real thing within a few years. In the Hominy Valley bowl, where air can settle, a clean-burning sealed appliance is doubly attractive. A common upgrade model can move quickly if you order ahead of the fall rush; a special finish adds factory weeks. We pull the permit with Buncombe County.
