A property manager can reasonably swap batteries and check the switch, but a pilot that keeps dropping needs service.

The fix for absentee-owned rentals is timing: a maintenance visit in late summer or early fall, before the peak rental months, catches the clogged orifice and the tired thermocouple before a guest ever flips the switch. The regulator, valve, pilot, and any propane line are licensed work — we permit gas jobs with Haywood County and pressure-test the line.
