Who installs wood stoves — a chimney sweep or a fireplace dealer?
A fireplace dealer and installer handles the whole wood-stove job — the stove, the hearth pad, clearances to combustibles, the Class A chimney or liner, and the permit. A chimney sweep cleans and inspects existing chimneys but usually doesn't sell or install appliances. For a new stove, you want the company that does all of it and stands behind it.
Two different jobs, two different trades
A chimney sweep is who you call to clean creosote and inspect an existing flue — important, ongoing work, and we do inspections too. But a sweep typically isn't selling stoves or engineering a new installation from scratch.
