Simple and safe for rental housing
Sylva and Cullowhee turn over a lot of student and rental housing near Western Carolina, and those units get used hard and maintained inconsistently. Electric is a landlord-friendly answer: no gas line, no pilot, no chimney to sweep, and a flame that a tenant runs with a switch and can't misuse the way a real fire gets misused.
