Are there rebates or change-out programs for replacing an old wood stove?
Not through any current program, and in Fletcher the question comes up less than elsewhere. This is natural-gas territory built out with 1990s subdivisions and steady I-26 corridor construction, so most fireplaces here are builder-grade gas, not old wood stoves. Henderson County isn't running a change-out incentive now, and where a rural wood stove does exist, that's the case worth checking.
A gas-first town
Fletcher sits on natural-gas mains, and its housing skews newer, subdivisions from the '90s and ongoing construction along the airport and I-26 corridor, much of it with basic gas fireboxes rather than wood. That means fewer of the uncertified freestanding stoves these programs are written to retire, so for a lot of Fletcher homes the change-out question simply doesn't apply.
There's also real commercial demand out by the airport, where offices and retail want gas fireplaces and outdoor features, a different lane than the residential wood-stove swap entirely.
If you're the exception
For an actual wood stove worth retiring, NC DEQ's Division of Air Quality and Henderson County are where a legitimate incentive would appear, with occasional HPBA campaigns. We don't run a rebate and won't invent one. If a real program is active, we'll point you to it.
