Are there rebates or change-out programs for replacing an old wood stove?
Not through any standing program, and Maggie Valley has a wrinkle most towns don't. This is propane and cabin country at over 3,000 feet, thick with vacation rentals, and change-out incentives are aimed at owner-occupied homes swapping a primary stove. No program is active in Haywood County now, so for a rental fireplace that must light instantly for guests, plan on the swap standing on its own.
Rentals and altitude drive the timing
Up here fireplaces sit idle for weeks between guests, then have to light on the first try when someone arrives cold. That reliability, not a rebate, is usually what pushes owners along Soco Road and Jonathan Creek to replace an aging stove. As one of the coldest communities we serve, at 3,000-plus feet, a hearth that fails during a rental week is a real problem.
Because this is propane-only territory, converting off wood means a propane appliance, and either way we handle the pre-season inspection before peak rental months so nothing surprises you in January.

A legitimate change-out incentive would appear through NC DEQ's Division of Air Quality or Haywood County, occasionally an HPBA dealer campaign, and eligibility for rentals versus owner-occupied homes varies. We don't administer a rebate and won't promise one. If a real one is live, we'll tell you.
