Are there rules for where the propane tank can be placed when adding a propane fireplace?

In Leicester, many rural properties run on propane, and the large lots make NFPA 58 setbacks from the house, openings, ignition sources, and the property line easy to hit. The catch out here is access — a tank has to sit where the propane truck can reach it down a long or rough driveway. Your supplier sizes and sites it; we run the gas.

Space, but mind the driveway

Leicester's big rural properties around Sandy Mush, Turkey Creek, and Newfound Road rarely struggle to meet a tank's clearances — there's land to spare. The practical constraint is the fill truck: a tank set far up a long or steep private drive has to stay reachable, especially in winter. Keeping the fill route drivable year-round is the whole game on a big rural lot. Your propane company will balance a compliant, convenient spot against the delivery route. On some remote lots with limited electrical capacity, that's also a reason to lean toward a millivolt gas unit that needs no circuit board.

Propane, wood, and the licensed line

Wood heat is popular out here, and we install stoves too — but for gas, the fuel connection is licensed work. Your propane supplier owns the tank; Steady Flame sets the regulator, runs the piping, and connects the appliance. In North Carolina a showroom or handyman legally can't do that fuel work. We pull the Buncombe County permit and pressure-test the line. On clear winter nights these valleys run 5 to 8 degrees colder than Asheville, so size the tank for the draw.

Fifteen minutes west

Whether it's a propane fireplace or a wood stove, we handle the whole job. A Valor unit runs with zero electricity — worth a look on a remote lot. We're fifteen minutes west of our Asheville showroom. Call (828) 545-0525 for a free in-home assessment and we'll coordinate the tank location with your propane supplier.
