Are there rules for where the propane tank can be placed when adding a propane fireplace?

In Weaverville, the smart move is to place the propane tank while the house is still being built. NFPA 58 sets its distance from the home, windows, doors, ignition sources, and the property line, and a larger tank needs more room — far easier to plan on a bare Reems Creek lot than to retrofit later. Your supplier sites it; we run the gas.

Site it during construction

Weaverville is building fast, especially out in Reems Creek and along Ox Creek, and new construction is the best possible time to settle a tank location. On an open lot you can pick the spot that clears the building, the openings, and the property line without fighting a finished landscape, and you can trench the gas line before the driveway and beds go in. Getting it right on paper now saves an awkward tank location and a torn-up yard down the road. Older downtown homes with original masonry can add propane too — the setbacks are identical — but the placement takes more planning around what's already there.

Who owns what

Your propane supplier sizes and places the tank, keeps it to the setback distances, and handles refills. Steady Flame is the licensed gas contractor for everything past the tank — regulator, piping, and the appliance connection. Running gas is licensed work in North Carolina; a builder or showroom legally can't do it. We coordinate with your general contractor, pull the Buncombe County permit, and pressure-test the line. Permitted gas work also protects the home's resale and insurance.

Fifteen minutes north

The north-facing valley warms slowly in spring, so a fireplace stays useful late. Napoleon and Heatilator are common first-fireplace picks in new builds here. We're fifteen minutes up from our Asheville showroom. Call (828) 545-0525 for a free assessment — and if you're mid-build, call early so the tank and gas line land in the plan.
