Can I buy a fireplace online and hire a local dealer to install it?

In Waynesville, we won't install an online-bought firebox — and at nearly 2,650 feet, where the heating season runs about three weeks longer than Asheville's, that isn't us being difficult. When a hearth is doing real work all winter, you want a unit whose model, fuel setup, and parts we can stand behind, not one shipped in from a warehouse and hoped over.

When the hearth is heating the house, a wrong box is a cold week

Waynesville leans on its fireplaces harder than the lower valley towns — Hazelwood's older homes have drafty open fireboxes, and the town sits 10 to 15 degrees colder than Asheville. If you order a unit online and it turns out to be the wrong model for your venting, or it arrives damaged, you find out on a cold night, with the manufacturer pointing at the seller and no local dealer on the hook. We'd rather size it right the first time so the heat is there when the temperature drops.

Haywood runs on mixed fuel — the orifice has to match

Part of Waynesville is on natural gas and part on propane, and a gas fireplace is built and jetted for one or the other. Propane burns hotter per unit and needs different orifices and pressures; a unit ordered for the wrong fuel soots up, underperforms, or won't run right. A webpage listing won't catch that mismatch — a local dealer configuring the unit for your actual supply will. And running or extending the gas line is licensed work here: we pull the Haywood County permit, meet the inspector, and pressure-test what we run.

One accountable company, a short drive away

Buy the box online, hire whoever's licensed for the gas, and find a third party to install, and every callback becomes a finger-pointing match. We do it under one roof — the Napoleon, Kozy Heat, and Regency units are in our Asheville showroom, and Waynesville is thirty-five minutes west of it — and we warranty our own workmanship.
