Does it matter whether I lease or own my propane tank when adding a fireplace?

In Arden it usually doesn't, and here's the local reason: Arden sits on the natural-gas main, so converting one of Royal Pines' or Skyland's drafty open masonry fireplaces to a sealed insert generally means natural gas — no tank, no lease question. It only matters on the wooded edges running propane, where a leased tank ties you to a supplier and an owned one doesn't.

Turning drafty boxes into real heaters

Arden's established 1980s-90s neighborhoods in Royal Pines and Skyland are full of open masonry fireplaces that pull heat out of the room instead of adding it. Because Arden is on the natural-gas main, the fix — dropping in a sealed gas insert that actually holds warmth — usually ties straight into natural gas, so no propane tank enters the equation and the leasing question is moot. That's the common Arden project: same firebox opening, a real heater in place of a draft. The homes where lease-versus-own does matter are the wooded parcels on the edges that sit beyond the main and run propane, plus some commercial spaces around Biltmore Park.

If you are on a propane parcel

For an Arden home that does run off a tank, the split is the standard one. Lease it and the supplier maintains and recertifies the tank but keeps a say over the connection and where you buy fuel; own it and you gain supplier freedom while carrying the upkeep. Neither blocks the insert or fireplace. What stays constant is our side — we size the gas line for the appliance, pull the Buncombe County permit, meet the inspector, and pressure-test from regulator to firebox regardless of who owns the tank. Arden is about fifteen minutes south of the showroom. Call (828) 545-0525.
