How do fireplace warranties work and what do they usually cover?

Two layers. The manufacturer's warranty covers the appliance itself — many gas units carry a limited lifetime warranty, with shorter coverage on wear components, and the exact terms vary by brand. On top of that, a good installer adds a workmanship guarantee covering the install. Professional installation, registering the product, and keeping up annual service are usually what keep both intact.

The two warranties you actually have

There's the manufacturer's warranty and the installer's workmanship guarantee, and they cover different failures. The manufacturer stands behind the unit — if a part fails from a defect, that's theirs. The installer stands behind the work — if the venting or gas connection wasn't done right, that's ours to fix.

Every install we do is backed by the manufacturer's warranty plus our own workmanship guarantee. That combination is the point: one company sold it, installed it, and answers for both the box and the labor, so there's no gap for a problem to fall through.

What's typically covered — and what isn't

On most gas units we sell, the manufacturer's coverage is a limited lifetime warranty, with wear components carrying shorter terms — but the exact structure varies by brand. Napoleon, Heat & Glo, Kozy Heat, and the rest each publish their own terms, so we go over the specific coverage on your unit rather than guessing.

What manufacturer warranties generally don't cover is the labor to make the repair, or normal wear items. That's where a company that both installs and services matters — we're the ones who come back out. Routine maintenance, glass cleaning, and wear parts are separate from a warranty claim.

What keeps the warranty valid

Three things protect your coverage: professional, licensed installation; registering the product with the manufacturer after install; and keeping up with annual service. A DIY install or unqualified hookup can void the manufacturer's warranty outright — one more reason the licensed route pays off.

We handle the install and can register the unit, then keep it serviced each year, ideally in late summer before you're depending on it. Call (828) 545-0525 with any warranty questions on your specific model.
