How do I pair or sync a new remote to my gas fireplace?
You put the fireplace's receiver into learning mode — usually a small button on the receiver you press until an LED blinks — then press a button on the new handset within a few seconds to lock them together. The catch: the remote has to be the matching system for your valve. A mismatched handset won't pair no matter what you do.
The general pairing dance
Most gas-fireplace remotes bind the same way. The receiver — the box wired to the gas valve, usually tucked behind the lower louver or in the control access area — has a small learn or program button. Press and hold it until its indicator light blinks to say it's listening, then press the on or set button on your handset within the short window that follows. A confirming beep or light means they're synced. Fresh batteries in both the handset and receiver matter here; weak batteries are the number-one reason a pair won't take.
Compatibility is the real gatekeeper
